My Macbook pro has a thunderbolt port so does my husband's macbook pro. I bought the 1TB Ministation thunderbolt drive specifically for that reason. Plug the thunderbolt cable in the drive, then to the mac. Nothing. Dead. No drive light. Plug the USB cable into the drive and the Mac, works great. We tried the same thing on my husband's macbook pro and got the same result. I assume it's a cable issue? I find it hard to believe but is it possible the thunderbolt port on the drive is bad?

I got one off Ebay and its Thunderbolt port did not work as well.

I just returned it. Even the seller could not verify if Thunderbolt was
tested as I got no answer when I asked despite the sale stating
the USB was tested and fully functional <duh>


Anyway, I got another off Amazon and it works fine with Thunderbolt
as I am connected to the Mac. I have yet to test USB3.0 ... as I am exhausted.

The only thing I see that is an issue (minor) is the activity status light is
on the bottom of the device and may not be able to be seen or have to
have some reflective surface onto which it sits to show the light.
I have a Lacie drive similar to this and its light indicator is on the back
where the cables connect.

I just do not understand the reason why Buffalo would put this light
on the bottom, what is the purpose or use then if you cannot see it
clearly or directly unless they are going to make some type of stand.
Turning it on its sides , it can scratch the surface of the device or
easily tip over  and who wants it upside down to scratch the top?
