Title: Command Line USB Reset
Post by: BeefaloFan on November 17, 2013, 01:09:31 PM
Step 1: Power down TeraStation
Step 2: Connect Keyboard to the USB 2.0 port
Step 3: Connect Monitor to VGA port on TeraStation.
Step 4: Boot TeraStation Up and watch the screen on the Monitor.
Step 5: You will get 4 options between 30 and 60 seconds so pay attention because if you miss it you will have to reboot the TeraStation and try again. The options you should will see starts with "1:HDDroot, etc...", once you see this you need to press the "1" key and hit the "enter" key quickly as the screen is only there for 3secs.
Step 6: Wait for a couple of minutes and you should see the TeraStation Go in to EM Mode.
Step 7: Download the latest firmware for the unit. Below is the link to the download page, type the model in and find the firmware download for windows. http://www.buffalotech.com/support-and-downloads/downloads
Step 8: Follow the force update procedures on editing the TSUpdate.ini file; link is below on how to do so. http://forums.buffalotech.com/index.php?topic=10184.0
Step 9: Once you have the Debug window open from the TSUpdater.exe, make sure you check "Force Update" and "Delete User-Config".  Hit ok and run the Update. You should not get a prompt for the password.
Note: this will only erase all the settings in the TeraStation; this will not delete any data.
Step 10: wait for update to finish and your unit is now accessible with the default username/password.
This was tested on the TS V Series and TS5000 Series.
