Title: HS-DH500GL 6 blink error only on WD5000AAKS Caviar not on Samsung
Post by: bnrusso on November 10, 2013, 10:22:51 PM
Hi,
I am the new owner of 2 used HS-DH500GL LinkStations. Interesting devices.
One has a Samsung drive and the other a WD caviar.
I got the Samsung to work by swapping the drives/enclosures, running LSupdater for the 2.10 Firmware.
I also realized I can access the unit by plugging it directly into my ethernet port on my laptop and running the NAS NAvigator or Navigator  2.

The website support downloads helped quite a bit.

The other of the Linkstations has a WD5000AAKS drive that formats fine and is usable under windows(Vista) as a SATA boot or USB drive but not in the HS-DHGLK box.
I've swapped the Linkstation units, SATA daughter boards and cannot get past the quick error of 6 red blinks (drive not recognized) in either Linkstation box.
Having 2 units has been helpful but I don't understand why the WD drive works fine in Windows but when installed into either unit goes into the same error 6 red blinks with that WD Caviar drive.
From what I've read and researched I can't do much of anything until I get the error red blinks to stop as I can't even access the IP via browser.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
