Title: Replacing hard drive
Post by: SuperPC on November 06, 2013, 08:20:55 AM
Greetings everyone

I feel bad. It seems the only time I posted something in this forum is because I upgraded something and I have question on implementing it to my linkstation duo. First time it was a hard drive (I bought this unit enclosure only, without any drive in it), than gigabit Ethernet, and now, another hard drive. Always with question and never any answer. I'm sorry for being such a newb (even though I've use my linkstation for almost 3 years now).

Now on to the question at hand...

My unit is still the same old reliable linkstation duo LS-WXL (as I've said, enclosure only). It's still has 2 1.5 TB hard drive in it without any raid (normal mode). It's getting really full and I want to upgrade one of the drive to 2 TB. Since both drive are at 93%, I'm a bit confused on how to upgrade.

Can I just remove one of the drive, insert a new drive and than copy the content of the drive that's been removed through the USB port on LS-WXL itself (I plan on using the old drive in a new PC I'm building)? If it's not possible, is there any way upgrading my drive without loosing any data in it?
