I posted this yesterday under "Wireless" but in searching for answers, I saw most WebAccess related questions were posted here under Storage (I flipped a coin on where to post originally and guessed wrong apparently). Hopefully, someone here will have some idea of where I can look to fix this issue.

I have a WZR-1166DHP wireless router set up with an attached USB storage device. I have enabled WebAccess and believe I have modified all associated settings correctly on the router.

If I go to buffalonas.com from my desktop using the wireless router, I can access buffalonas.com and my USB storage device just fine; however, if I try to access it through the internet (i.e., from outside our network, e.g. from an android mobile device with wifi turned off) it hangs after I enter my buffalonas.com name and click "Connect".

Any recommendations on settings I should check?

My current buffalonas.com name is "INRemote"

From everything I've read and gather, I need to set up port forwarding?

I've tried but I'm not sure I have it right.

My config goes like this:

"Internet" -> Comcast CG3000DCR modem -> WZR-1166DHP AirStation Wireless Router -> USB Storage Device.

I set up port forwarding in the Comcast modem to port 9000 for both public and private and used the IP address of the Wireless Router as the Modem sees it.
In the wireless router, I set up port forwarding on port 9000 and used the IP address of the modem as the modem sees it.

Of course WebAccess is still not working outside of our network. What else do I need to change/modify?

Not that anyone seems to be reading this, but I got it fixed and working.

Set my WebAccess as follows:

WebAccess    X Enable
Language       English
HTTPS/SSL Encryption    Enable (not checked)
WebAccess External Port    Manual    Port Number:  9000
DNS Service Hostname    Use BuffaloNAS.com registration

Also had to go into my cable modem settings and forwarded port 9000 directly to the AirStation WZR-1166DHP wireless router. I won't post the exact settings here because YMMV as to those settings.

Once I thought I had the port open, I checked it via http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and confirmed that port 9000 was open.

I deleted the port forwarding settings on the wireless router because the storage device is connected via USB directly to the wireless router so it would share the IP address of the wireless router.
