Title: No Web Service?
Post by: hallkbrdz on October 12, 2013, 09:23:19 PM
My NAS has been very slow lately, and I finally had time to look at it today. I launched navigator and selected settings, and it opens a web browser window as normal - except nothing ever loads - no error, just keeps trying to load. I tried updating to the latest firmware, which eventually failed with two errors:

The Linkstation's firmware kernel [2012/11/12 14:37:28] does not match then intended version kernel [2013/05/16 13:38:04]. The firmware update may have failed.

The Linkstation's firmware rootfs [2012/12/12 10:13:38] does not match then intended version rootfs [2013/05/16 13:50:18]. The firmware update may have failed.

I can ping the unit just fine
I can see the shares in windows (but access is VERY slow)
I can use acp_commanded to talk to it

I assume something networking wise possibly is not right - but I am not sure what. Windows Firewall is turned off (no change).

Computer (Win8) is 192.168.1.165, nm 255.255.255.0 dg 192.168.1.1
NAS is 192.168.1.198, nm 255.255.255.0 dg 192.168.1.1
Router is ASUS RT-N16 with Easy Tomato (pretty much default settings)
NAS is a LS-WX4.0TL with 1.64 firmware

My Terastation 7120 is doing the exact same thing - web page keeps refreshing - it is loading part of it since I can see picutre outlines every once in a while.  Looks like it never finishes loaded and just starts over.

I found the problem!

When I loaded updated firmware on the router, jumbo frames were disabled. After I re-enabled them, all is well again. ;-)
