Title: HD-HLAN250 v1 PPC (LS1) - VERY slow at writing files
Post by: stevegutteridge on September 29, 2013, 01:53:55 PM
Hi.

I have a Buffalo Linkstation HD-HLAN250 v1 PPC (LS1).

It still reads files fine, but it now takes FOREVER to write/copy new files. Windows reports write speeds of only about 10Kb/s so it takes 30 minutes to copy a file that used to take 10 seconds.

It is exactly the same from any PC/tablet on my home network, which includes Windows 8, Windows XP and Android devices.

The disk is 80% full.

What could be wrong?

Thanks.

Steve.

Just to say that I've found the problem.  It wasn't the NAS but my ADSL router. Connecting the NAS to my PC directly with an ethernet cable (with cross-over switch switched on) and all is OK. Also noticed that the LINK/ACT light on the NAS was blinking furiously for no obvious reason, but wasn't 100% certain if it had always been like that. No idea what the router is up to, I've not changed anything on it, but it seems to be swamping the NAS with packets. Swapped it out for another router and all now OK.
