Title: Probably a repost... Active Directory - Terastation Share problem...
Post by: codefrog on September 19, 2013, 10:20:35 AM
I have successfully joined my Terastation Pro II to the AD. From the Domain Controller (DC) I cannot map drives to it. I cannot share folders off of it. Who on earth do I share this thing out to my domain users?

Firmware: 1.35

And it's joined to Windows 2008 Server R2 x64 Active Directory

I also have the DC IP in the topmost DNS of the Terastation.

Do you have shares created? also do you see your users and groups from the domain in the TeraStation. Sometimes it seems like the unit has join the domain but didn't and is stuck in limbo. I know that you cant use a admin account with special characters in its password to join the TeraStation to the domain.

I can see all my domain groups and such in the TS.

However if I cannot manage shares on the TS from the domain controller. Shouldn't I be able to do that?

I have it on the domain I know that. I just don't know how to add it to the DFS or whatever so I can share folders off of it.

Only the TeraStation can manage the shares, whether you are on or off the domain. If you are trying to create a share you need to log in to the unit to do so. If the unit has the option "delegate to external SMB server" then you can manage the units folder with windows that way.

To me it sounds like you were trying to create a share with explorer and not the TeraStation. If you access the unit by going to start and typing in the search "\\(ip address)\" and hit enter. Does it take you to the units main directory?
