Title: Rebuild RAID5 on Drivestation Quattro
Post by: jmahavier on September 09, 2013, 07:30:49 PM
It appears that a drive failed on a Drivestation Quattro.  1 Red light comes on accompanied by an audible alarm, then 4 Red lights come on accompanied by an audible alarm, and then all drives spin down, fan stops, and audible alarm stops, but all 4 red lights stay on.

I got a replacement drive, same make and model, and put it it.  When I start up the system all 4 drive lights go red accompanied by an audible alarm, and then all drives spin down, fan stops, and audible alarm stops, but all 4 red lights stay on.

This is my first drive failure on a RAID5 in a Drivestation Quattro.  I've had drives fail in Terastation NAS drives and rebuild was easy.  The Drivestation is not rebuilding.  How do I get it to rebuild?  I would look further in the downloads and documentation by the model of drive I have is not listed and the SN# is not recognized.  The model is

HD-QS1.0TSU2R5US

Thank you for any assistance.

The raid controller has failed.

So is that a -there is no hope- situation or is it possible that if I get another enclosure of the same model that the raid controller in it will recognize the drives and raid and allow for continued function?

Thank you for your help.
