Title: LS-1000GL - fails to start - Error lights
Post by: jbuckusa1 on July 25, 2013, 07:56:09 PM
Hi,
I have a LS-1000GL and I had turned it off (through the web interface) before going on vacation. When I turned it back on I receive 9 beeps and the error light blinks. It looks like the error light blinks 1 long light and 6 short lights. I had this happen once before and I started it again and it started up fine. After looking at the manual it seems that it doesn't recognize the hard-drive. I had no problems with the drive before turning it off. Does anyone have any ideas on how to bring this unit up? I hate to lose the data but, I would like to get it started once more to copy the data off the drive. Thanks!
Take Care,
Jim

The disk itself or the SATA bridge is broken, E16 - Mount error.

Considerably more likely to be the drive if it happened before.

Drives will sometimes do that, where a fatal error occurs but doesn't kill the drive for good. This is a warning to get data off, because the likelihood of a catastrophic failure jumps up considerably. I have a link to a Google White paper in my sig that talks about that behavior.

Not much of a comfort at this point if it won't come back. The only surefire way to recover your data is a professional data recovery, Drivesavers has a discount for Buffalo customers (http://www.drivesaversdatarecovery.com/welcome/welcome-buffalo-technology-customers/).
