Title: rights access issues- terastation III
Post by: gfellerj on July 15, 2013, 10:31:50 AM
Hello,

I have a terastation III and even though I have access restrictions turned completely off, when I try to browse to a machine from a PC it prompts me for a username and password and the only way I can access teh shares is if I enter a local terastation username and password.  Any ideas on why I'm being prompted?

Is the 'Access Restrictions' check box inside the share unchecked on -all- your shares?

If you have access restrictions at all on the box in any share, turn it off to test. On the TS-X, this is intended behavior, any access restrictions will force a password check on connection.

If you -don't- have any shares with restrictions checked, try updating to the latest firmware, which is 1.60 as of this posting.

I do have all access restrictions turned off and it is joined to my domain.  When I browse to it by IP address it works fine.  But when I browse to it by FQDN it prompts me for a username or password.

If I run the net view command by IP it works fine, If I do it by FQDN it says access denied...
