Title: E16 Can't find HD1 and HD2
Post by: goofus on July 10, 2013, 07:22:48 PM
My HS-DH4.0TGL/R5 died.  On trying to fire it back up I received a message about a lost boot image.  I have gotten it to pull the boot image over TFTP, but after loading it the unit informs me it can't find HD1 or HD2, and if I try pushing the firmware it fails.

I have tried various combinations of old drives, brand new drives, old and new drives - all with the same result.

I removed the cover and swapped cables for HD3 and HD4 with HD1 and HD2 hoping to find that it wouldn't find HD3 and HD4, but no joy.

Any ideas?  I'm afraid it's going to be  a MB problem that can't be fixed.

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Guess my Thanks in Advance was wasted thanks.  I thought this forum was monitored by staff, either I am wrong about that or they have just chosen to ignore me, but looking at the lack of response to other posts it seems pretty useless either way.

Sad their is no way to get support for this product without spending hours on hold.  Guess it's time to just bite the bullet and get a shiny new storage device.  One thing for sure, this unit didn't meet my life cycle expectation and the inability to get support means the shiny new one won't be a Buffalo brand.  For those who ask me for recommendations in the future I may not know who to recommend, but I do know who to avoid.

Didnt meet your life expectations?! How old is the unit? 5 - 6 years? How long did you expect it to last? 40 years?!
FYI: Yes, it is a main board failure, actually, the SATA controller for HDD1&2
