Title: Media Server & PS3
Post by: kgartonpearce on April 04, 2009, 07:51:48 AM
I have a Linkstation Pro Duo 3.09 and have enabeled Media Server and pointed it to a folder called movies. My PS3 found the media Server and lists folders called pictures/music/video but everything is empty. I have an .avi movie in the Movies folder but the PS3 does not see it. My PS3 also sees my tversity media server on my PC and plays .avi's fine. How do I get my buffalo media server working? Can't find any documentation on it. Nothing in the manual. Where can I get more detailed information on how the buffalo media server works?

I have an ls-xhl so the device is different but maybe this will apply.  I have the following folder structure.

Share

Info

Media

    Music

    Videos

    Pictures

    Software......

Backup

I set the mediaserver to see Media, not the sub folder music.

whenever I add any media, I tell it to restart the media server.  Mine worked fine with the PS3 2.60 firmware as well as the 2.70.  If you havn't upgraded your PS3 give that a try.   There is a known problem with (seems like all buffalo devices) and their DNLA compliance although my ls-xhl has not given me any problems.  Do a search for more info on their progress.
