Post by: johncharnock77 on March 31, 2009, 04:07:18 AM
Hi - My terrastation pro had a HDD failure last week - I pulled the drive out and re booted - its working on three drives and the data seems to be OK - it seems to have re configured itself to use 3 drives ?????

if you had the drives mostly empty, it's possible.  for example, if your info was striped on the first two disks and hadn't begun to fill the second two yet, you'd be ok.

If there was any data written to the drive that died, you've lost something...

That's correct if HDD 3 or 4 died in RAID 0 and you're not even using half of the total disk space then your data should be fine. For the finer points of RAID I would take a look at this article.

Thanks I think your right, I managed to get a back up and created a new raid with two drives.
