Title: LS-XHL - Re-flashing Drive - Firmware
Post by: imouti on March 30, 2009, 12:43:01 AM
Does anyone know how I would go about re-flashing a LS-XHL, unfortunately there is no firmware utility and no firmware on the buffalo website.
Title: LS-XHL - Unable to access
Post by: imouti on March 29, 2009, 11:31:29 PM

Today out of the blue I was unable to access my LS-XHL.  Mapped shares will not connect. Buffalo Nas Naviagtor is unable to browse shares. Web admin page does not accept the admin password.  I have tried resetting to defaults by powering off the unit and holding the function button while placing the power button back to the on position, once the function button starts flashing I press the function button again. The drive goes through some type of cycle, ending with the top led flashing orange and then a constant blue. Now the web admin page does not accept the default password, of password.

username: admin

password: password

my previous admin password does not work either.

Buffalo Nas Naviagtor does find the drive but is unable to access it, the drive is also pingable. Web access is not accessable as well.

Any ideas???

also tried reinstalling the Nas navigator, uninstall goes fine, install fails with, "Install can not complete" with a big "?" in the background...

furthermore, the web admin page, guest with no password works, but no options are displayed within the web admin page. Any ideas why the drive reset is not working???

You can get the firmware here. We should have an update to our website soon.

arrr... tried re-flashing it but the drive would not accept the admin password of "password" in the flash utility... I'm copying my data off the drive using ufs explorer... kinda slow transfer rate... anyone know if I should expect a faster transfer rate in ubuntu???  Also why did you guys design this drive with the flash being written to the hard disk, is this a cost issue or does it have it have some type of advantage?  As a user its just scary to me that the drive is then extremely susceptible to power outage issues, I would imagine this would increase support and rma costs... just my 2c...
