I just bought a LinkStation FlexNet 1TB drive.
I installed it just fine for USB use, but have not been able to install it for network use. I have gone onto my router's settings pages and found the IP address given to the drive and can access the WebAdmin interface through that. However, the setup on the install disc cannot locate the drive on the network. It brings up the window where it searches for the drive and then, after the bar fills up brings up another that says "The unit cannot be found. Please confirm LAN cable connection and LED then try again." The LED is green and the LAN cable is connected (elsewise the router would not keep the IP address connected) but yet the setup software still cannot find the drive.
I took a look around the forums for similar problems and noticed one where the drive was trying to run on a NTFS filesystem. However, when I checked, I found thad mine was still running FAT32.
What should I do?
You have to options in accessing your drive through the network.
1. Try to map the drive through the search box for vista or the run box for xp from the start button. put in \\[IP_of_the_device] and see if that pulls up your folders. If it does right click on the share and map network drive and give it a drive letter.
2. Disable any and all firewalls installed on the desktop, and run the install cd and it should be able to find the device if there is nothing blocking it.

I have the same issue as posted. I've unloaded my firewall. The unit is getting an IP address from the DHCP server, I can ping it and I can access the web admin interface, but \\192.168.1.34 returns "Network Path Not Found."
I've reset the settings to default using the web interface, but that hasn't helped.

Connect is via USB and check in disk management if its NTFS or FAT32.
How would the file system on the drive have anything to do with whether or not there are shares present?
This device has never been used before, so it's got whatever FS Buffalo decided to put on it.
I admit I had hoped that the brower-based management console would let me add/remove shares, but apparently not.
I plugged it in via USB and I can see the drive and access the folders. It's formatted FAT32.
Any idea why I can't access it via LAN mode? That's really what it was purchased for.
*Bump*
Nobody has any idea what I can do to troubleshoot this issue?
Do you have another PC you can try it on? Boot your current PC into safemode with networking and then try to access the unit via the \\ipaddress. You need to double check through the drivenavi.exe software that , that is the acutal IP address.
In the drivenavi.exe go to settings and check the details.
