I am getting frustrated with this NAS. I had other in the past that were just working......

I cannot really understand how to set it up so that it goes to sleep when my macs go to sleep and the wake up when macs resume.

Tried many configuaration, even turning on or off the media server. some configuation allow the NAS to go to sleep but the NAS never wakeup. other config just to the opposite.

Moreover, why it take soo long to boot/wakeup ? almost 40-50 sec. a normal server is quicker!!!!

Hope a new firmware upgrade will be soon available....

In response to your frustrations:

1. A keep alive packet is sent from the computer to the NAS telling it to stay awake. When your computers shut down so does the NAS.

2. This is not a server it is normal for the device to perform a full boot sequence on every startup which is about 30-45 seconds.

I made some progress, I am now able to have the macs and the NAS go to sleep and wake up accordingly. I think the problem was that with the new firmware on the NAS, you need also the latest Mac NASNavigator software.

The problem remanin because, even if the NAS wake up then the Mac wake up, the NAS folders look unmounted on the Macs and when Plex application try to address them them it does not find the files.

I will need to find a way in Mac OS to do an automatic Drive Map after wake up, but ..... I will need to put a wait for 1 minutes, to allow the lazy NAS to be fully awake first !!!

Netstart NAS and other are operational after 5 seconds! Sorry up I do not think 40 sec is normal.
