Hi guise,

 

I have a LS-L500GL and am trying to configure it for web access. The web interface is in japanese, which isn't a problem as it is only one page for this model and the options are obvious (plus a little google translate to double check). Anyway it simply will not work (and I am sure the ports are getting through). The message says

 

BuffaloNas.com access failed. Please check your Internet connection settings.

 

My internet settings are just fine!

Has anybody else been able to use this model for web access?

   I found you have to really dig around in the settings and make sure you catch everything.  Some of the text, such as folder names, are really buttons which need to be explored to reveal more settings which need to be configured.

   Are you using a static IP for the LS? If so make sure you have enter the correct DNS info.

   Configure your LS'S settings manully to use the internal port to 9000 for the web access, then forward that port through your router to the ip address of your drive (Port Forwarding).  I had the same problem, the automatic settings do not work, as for some reason the drive will only open port 9000 for the web access even though it will automatically configure it's self to use a different port. (Seems like they have some firmware issue to address.)

   I have been trying to gain webaccess to my Linkstation for months.  I have called tech support several times, I have tried everything listed here (portforwarding with 9000, trying automatic settings, etc).  Tech support says that from what they can see, I have everything set up properly but they can't figure out why I can't connect.  I have gone through 2 different routers with no success to connecting to my drive through the internet.  When I try connect I get a network timeout.  The address showing in the address bar is : http://67.142.130.21:9000 (or whatever port number I have configured).  I am using a Hughes satellite modem.  I am wondering if that is the problem.  Does anyone have any success connecting with a Hughes modem?  I was using a Netgear router.  Now I am using a Linksys Dual band router.

   Might not be much of a suggestion, but if you are confident that you have set everything up as it is supposed to be (I wouldn't be surprised if some burried setting is still wrong), then maybe try setting it up on a friend's network.  Hopefully, someone who has the same ISP as you.

   I'll try setting it up on someone else's network.  I have satellite and unfortunately I don't know anyone else with satelllite.

   what if you try and access the drive on your local network through port 9000, for example if the dhcp address of you drive is 192.168.1.2, are you able to access it at http://192.168.1.2:9000? (or https:// depending on which your configured for.) If so then the problem is either with your router, port forwarding is not setup correctly, you can enable DMZ on your router to test this, it will open up all your ports and make them visible to the internet. Now if that does not work it is possible that your satelite provider blocks this port on their end. Therfore you should then try your drive at a friends house who uses a different internet provider.  This way you will be able to tell if it's your provider blocking ports or if the drive is defective. Any which way, send back some feedback and let me know how it goes...

I agree with imouti on this defintetly try it from somewhere else and see if that works.
