Title: LS-500GL does not boot after a failed attempt to upgrade fw to 1.15 from 1.11
Post by: dshah72 on March 20, 2009, 12:47:13 PM

I have LS-500GL with gigabitIt was running firmware v1.11 and I tried to upgrade it to v.15 by downloading LS-GL_FW_115 file from the web siteI used LSUpdater and it found the device and started transferring the image fileIt completed the transfer but gave an error message at the endI rebooted the LS-500GL and it now cannot bootIt starts beeping with red error LED flashing 6 timesAfter a while it changes to 4 flashes and at that time HD turns off and power green LED goes off too, but red LED flashes 4 timesLS was connected to the laptop where I was running the LSUpdater.exe via wireless connection from my PC.  What should I do nowPlease help.

Update:

I connected LS-500GL and my PC on a separate ethernet switch.

I was able to fix the problem by following instructions at:

http://forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/board/message?board.id=0101&message.id=881&query.id=26577#M881 and booting in the EM modeAfter that I used LMUpdate.exe file with debug option (add section [SpecialFlags]
Debug = 1 to lsupdater.ini file) and right click on the program task bar to change the IP address to 192.168.11.3Once the IP address was changed, updated the flash to v1.15It came back to life and working fine now.

The lesson learned was not to update the FW over wireless networkAlways connect it directly to LS-500GL or via switch.
