Post by: dean on March 17, 2009, 10:57:45 PM

My LinkStation Gigabite was working and now all of a suden I can't access to my share I ran the utility and it can't find the Linkstation. I changed the swith, changed cable still no luck. I reset the Linkstation by using the INIT button and still it can't find my device I used the same LAN jack, switch and ethernet cable to run my computer and all of these components are workink. I downloaded the NasNavi utility and it can't find the Linkstation. I restarted the Linkstation couple of times I can see both lights steady but I can't undderstand why it can't find the Linkstation. Please help.

Thanks

Try doing a direct connect from your pc to the ls with an std cat5e.  Also trying a few computers directly connected.

Connect directly to one PC and then run the Nasnavi again.

If possible, make sure the all firewalls or Windows Defender are turned off on the PC when trying to detect the linkstation.

You should be able to detect the Linkstation.

K i tried to do a direct connect and still no joy I sent a ticket to Buffalo and they asked me to do following:

"Download and try to run the latest firmware for your model linkstation. The updater should be able to locate and reflash this  unit into a working state. >  If it cannot, try booting the LinkStation into Emergency Mode by turning it on WHILE HOLDING DOWN the INIT button on the rear of the unit.  Then try to run the pdater one more time."

I did the above and updater found the drive I ran the latest firmware and after running the firmware it says that it is rebooting the drive but it never came back up when I check the Link Station it has red error light flashing and it was beeping. I shut down the LinkStation, restart it and it was still beeping I did a reset and than try the EM mode again and ran the updater again to update the firmware and same behaviour red light with error and beeping.

I don't have a back up of data anywhere else that data is very important for me I need to reterieve it some how. I contact Buffalo and now they are not replying they just sent me Advance RMA and not telling me how I can retrieve my data I been on telephone on a hold for last 2 hours and no joy.

Please help me if you can so I can get my data.

I would really really apprecite your
