Title: Remote Backup - Terastation Live to Terastation Live
Post by: arobinson on October 14, 2008, 11:20:33 AM

Hello,

I would like to have a terastation in our NY office and one in our New Hampshire office. Can I get these two devices to backup to each other? Just an fyi, we don't share any network resources at all. Our networks are not connected. I saw similar messages in here but I was not sure if it's the same thing that I am asking.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Remote backups can be done if you assign a public IP address to both nas devices, however you have to manually add in the other TS.  You can also do it from behind a router by opening the proper ports, or with a VPN.

To make sure its not a firewall issue for testing purposes only try putting the IP of the nas in the DMZ.  See if you can see the folder.

would I need to do this on both routers?  or just the remote router.

just the remote for trouble shooting.  Test it then put it back behind the firewall

I put the terastations IP in the DMZ but still not backup folders.  Will try upgrading firmware next on one of the terastations.

Thanks Paul for all of your help.

Well, I did the DMZ thing & I've updated the firmware but still I cannot see the backup folder on the remote server.  Any other suggestions?

Is it possible to sent the backup in the other direction as a test?
