Title: Do I have to login each time I want to get to my NAS drive?
Post by: spacegazr on March 09, 2009, 02:05:43 PM
   Each time I reboot my computer, I am asked for a login/password before I can access my Buffalo LinkStation Pro Duo.  Is there a way I can make it so that I don't need to login to access those drives each time?

   What OS are you running?

   Sorry... should have mentioned that the 'problem computer' is a Vista 64 machine.  Come to think of it, I haven't had that problem on my XP Pro laptop.

spacegazr,

   Try this:

1. Click on Start->Control Panel

2. Go to User Accounts

3. On the left hand side of the User Account window should be a task labelled "Manage your network passwords", left click on that link

4. Click on the "Add" button

5. A window with three fields appears enter the following information for each field:

    Log on to: "\\[IPaddressofNAS]" (minus quotes of course)

    User: "[Username_on_NAS]"

    Password: "[Password_on_NAS]"

   Your credential type should be set to "A Windows Logon Credential"

6. Click OK and restart your system. Then try and access your user restricted folder. You should be met without resistance.

   Let me know if that works :)
