Title: Linkstation Quad 4TB - Email notification problem
Post by: steves on March 08, 2009, 10:43:50 PM

Hi,

I have not been able to get the email notification working on my linkstation - to connect to my ISP email server, depsite entering correct SMTP server details and login/ password details (SMTP authentication is required) , I can save the settings (with no errors reported) and despite a long 2-3 min of waiting, it reports that i "successfully" sends a test email ... but this is never received (all spam filters are off)

I am running the latest f/w (1.05)

Can anyone help??

Steve

steves,

In your SMTP setup does your username or password for your SMTP server use special characters?

Hi Dustrega,

No ... there are no special characters - SMTP address is    mail.m.iinet.net.au  (uses standard port 25)

just found a range of other issues with the "buggy" software ...  I can't seem to get access to shared folders from my pc (running win XP pro SP-3) when I enable read/write protection on shared folders using Linkstation web client ......   it won't let me access despite entering correct login / passoword details .......bloody frustrating !!

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide !!

Steve

Take a look at this thread. Have you added your own user credentials instead of using admin/password?

Many thanks for the tip  regarding the share folder issue ... this seems to work now !!

With regard to the email notification problem .... this I think is a firmware issue (as with the NTP issue I reported yesterday) - and one which I hope is addressed real soon

One other minor issue I noticed while 're-initialising' .... even when you save your current password (and press apply to save settings) prior to re-initialising, when the NAS drive reboots it fdoes not remeber the password and reverts to teh original "password"  ...juts another thing that could be fixed with the next firmware update (which I hope is soon !!)

Cheers,

Steve
