Title: Power Management Question
Post by: nicklesm on March 08, 2009, 09:12:13 PM

I have a 500GB Drive Station hooked into a 500GB Link Station.  I put the Link Station in sleep mode for 10 hours every night, but the Drive Station does not do the same thing even though I have it set to auto power.  Is there any utility for the Link Station that will allow me to manage the Drive Station's power profile from the Link Station web interface?

Thanks!!

My apologies, here are model numbers and firmware revs:

LinkStation LS-GL 500GB F/W 1.13

Drive Station HD-HSU2

nicklesm,

I'm looking into the issue but I think that this would be a USB signalling issue between the units. In other words the LinkStation is powered down but dormant. So, there's still power going through the system and it might be keeping the USB ports alive. The LinkStation has print server capability so it wouldn't surprise me if the USB ports are still alive while the NAS is "sleeping". My only suggestion would be to manually power down the DriveStation as we don't have a management for that as of yet.

Is there a possible rev to the management software on the Link Station that would allow me to put the USB ports to sleep?
