Title: Running out of room --> will zipping files be a problem? Model HS-DHTGL/R5 2.14 using RAID1

I've been digitizing a number of Sony camcorder 8mm tapes and have a few to go before completing the project.  This is used as an NAS on a home intranet for family members to access the movies at will.  I'm wondering if there are any issues with a combination of zip files and RAID1.  Apologies if this is a newbiew question!
