Title: FTP access restriction problems
Post by: AGDiackinc on March 06, 2009, 03:28:58 PM

LinkStation Pro 320GL

Firmware 1.03

Is there a way to setup User access restriction to an FTP folder from the internet without user access restrictions from the internal network?

I can add a shared folder with FTP access and user restriction but end up with Accessing Multiple Shares problems on the connected network computers.  I can map the restricted and unrestricted shares to drives using "Connect using a different user name" option. This works until I reboot the computer at which time the mapped drives will no longer function.

The only way to put security on a folder is to setup access restrictions. If you setup access restrictions on a folder you will need to use that user name and password no matter where you are accessing it (being the security).

However, after you enable access restrictions you can map that folder using the permissions you setup and Windows will save it and connect to it automatically and therefore YOU do not have to manually log in as Windows does it for you!
