I've owned this Gigabit NAS unit for over a year and it has worked great. Recently, I found that the drive mapping no longer works.
I tried several variations including resetting, restarting, etc.
I tried reinstalling the PC software and the install is failing at the point where it tries to map drives. I get a "failed mapping network drives" message.
I can ping it. When I scan for ports there are NO/Zero open ports. I think this has something to do with the problem.
The Power light is solid green
The Link/Acct light blinks green as it should indicating network activity
The Info light is not lit
the Error light is not lit
the Naviscreen shows
Hostname: HS-DHGL--EM247
Workgroup: UNKNOWN
IP Address: 192.168.1.72
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
MAC address: is there
Firmware shows all hyphens: ----------
None of the utility functions work. They all return an error that says: "Network routing can't be faound" Yes the word found is misspelled in the production product. Oh well...
It suggests that I check network connectivity. Of course since I can ping it etc. I think the network is connected.
Any suggestions???
Oh, I forgot to mention that I tried this. I get an error that says no Linkstations on the network.
I'm having the same problem except that it says HS-DHGL-EM214.
Support replied to me on this:
"If the navi can find the LinkStation, and is able to tell that the firmware
has a problem (-.-- listed as the version), then there is no reason the FW
updater shouldn't be able to find it as well, since the updater uses the exact
same protocol as the navi. You may have downloaded the wrong firmware for
your linkStation, as the updaters will only show results for the model number
they are designed to flash.
You should be using this one:

I downloaded the file and ran it but Vista says the program has stopped working.
