Title: Buffalo LinkStation Quad - what is the maximum Hard Drive Sizes
Post by: phatair on February 27, 2009, 02:45:36 AM

Hi,

i want to buy a Linkstation Quad, but what is the maximum Hard Drive Sizes that i can use? On the Buffalo homepage is the info that the maximum Size is "250GB, 500GB, 1.0TB" i think for one HDD, right? So is there a chance that with an firmware update this maximum size grow up? So that i can use a 1.5TB HDD?

Another question is, can i use 4 HDDs without running an RAID?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Yeah the max size is 1 tb for now. There could be a firmware update to allow 1.5 tb, but i highly doubt it. And yeah, you can just delete the raid and use the unit like that, but you would have no redundency.

Hi,

very old thread, but I have the same question, I'm looking at the Buffalo Linkstation Pro Quad.

Currently the website says 3TB maximum, I'm hoping this is outdated and there is actually support for 4TB drives, specifically the seagate ST4000DM000.

If the firmware doesn't currently support 4TB, is there an upcoming update that will support it?

thanks
