Title: DFS Link Terastation Pro II
Post by: indyjones16 on February 26, 2009, 03:33:31 PM

I would like to use a share on a Terastation Pro II as a replication link for a dfs share.

Here's my thoughts:

AD hosting the DFS root on a domain controller (ad1.dom.local).

the root was created to a local empty folder (corp). domain users access the new dfs share via unc: \\dom.local\corp

I added two shares as links: \\site1-buffalo\test and \\site2-buffalo\test and when i go to setup replication between the two linked shares i get an error because neither one can be setup as the initial master.

the buffalo drives are updated to the lastest firmware 1.33

any ideas as to how i can get this to work? i do not want to use a windows share as a link replication partner; which would have been used as the initial master and could be disasterous.

any ideas?

thanks

The TS cannot do replication.

Something else would need to handle this.

just to clarify, a terastation can be in a dfs replication partner just not the main partner? IOW, I'll need a windows based share to act as the intial master and the terastation share can be synced to...

thanks
