Title: Raid Scan Question
Post by: lorenzo on February 18, 2009, 06:00:32 PM

Hi,

New user here. Windows Vista Home Premium. Linkstation Quad 4T. Firmware 1.5 Running as Raid5

I've migrated about 1T to the device somewhat painfully (more about that later).

I started receiving messages indicating that a 'Notification as been sent to NAS001. Confirm NasNavigator2 Main Window'.

The device started appearing with a "?" in the Navigator, and an occasional msg box appeared telling me that the Bad Track Count on Disk 2 was approaching critical. I'd received no indication that I was accumulating 'Bad Tracks'.

Okay, so I scheduled an immediate Raid Scan.  It's been running for 7.5 hours with no indication of how much has been done, what it's finding or when it might end.

Would anyone have a sense of what I might expect when it's finished ? How much longer will it run ?

Thanks in advance for any help

If no errors are found then it wont show anything, you would have normal access. A RAID Scan can last anywhere from 8-16 hours, if the unit is rebooted then it may start the scan over again.
