Title: LInkstation LS-WXL reboots / red blinking LEDs
Post by: bammo on July 02, 2013, 09:38:08 AM

I've got a LS-WXL9F5 running firmware 1.56.  Fitted with 2 x 750MB WD's in RAID 1.  No web services are enabled and the NAS is connected directly to a 100/1000 Netgear unmanaged switch.

Unit runs OK but needs to be reset at least once a week.  I get the red blinking light (One long, 6 short is the usual sequence).  I can usually resolve this by using the browser interface and performing a "Disk Check" followed by a reboot followed by another disk check.  Sometimes the second disk check is not needed but usually I need to do all 3 steps.

When we lose power, it *always* goes into this fault mode but losing power is pretty rare - most of the time it just seems to fault on it's own.

When it is showing the red LED fault lights, I can still access the drive from PC's connected to the network via Ethernet but PC's connected via WiFi sometimes (but not always) give me a "NAS cannot be found" error message on the Buffalo NAS software.

Any ideas?  The NAS itself is reporting no faults through the GUI and reports no firmware upgrades are available (although I thought 1.65 was out?).

A disk is failing, update the firmware manually.
