Title: LS-WX4.0TL Flashing error light and can't update firmware
Post by: stasinos on June 26, 2013, 03:16:05 PM

I have a Buffalo Linkstation LS-WX4.0TL/R1 that I've been using since I bought it nearly a year ago.  The current firmware version is 1.41.  I've been running it on a wireless network and during that time have used 2 different routers and 2 different modems.

Recently I lost access to the Linkstation and the Red INFO/ERROR LED is flashing (series of 3 flashes).  So far I haven't been able to solve this isseue.  A blog recommended updating the firmware but I've gotten a communication error whenever I've attempted this.  Another blog stated that this could be resolved by taking the NAS off the wireless network and hardwiring it directly to a PC and updating the firmware from there but I'm unable to get the PC to see the NAS.

Can anyone give me some solid direction/instructions/information toward a solution?  I've provided all the pertinent information I can think of but if I've missed anything critical please let me know and I'll include it.

Thanks

David

Just a little more information...

The info/error Red LED is flashing 3 long flashes.

When I attempt to update my firmware the error message I get is:

"Downloading of the firmware image failed. Check the connection to the Internet, restart the LinkStation, and then wait a short time before trying to update again."

But there's nothing wrong with my wireless connection to the NAS.
