Title: LS-QVL/R5 taking drives out safely?
Post by: Newcomer on June 23, 2013, 01:15:48 AM

Hi

I have a couple of LS-QVL units and performance is abysmal via SMB. I want to experiment with using AFP only as I'm accessing from a Mac, but it takes days to copy all the data so I don't really want to lose it.

Is it safe to remove the drives and temporarily stick some others in and do the testing, then put the originals back? Will that work, or will they be reformatted and I'll have to copy all over again?

Thanks

If you put int another set of HDDs then the unit has no OS to boot from? The OS is located on the HDDs themselves.

Are you sure that your network speed is optimized, i.e. 1gigabit network connection / Good quality network cable?
