Title: Can not find my LS-XLAFE when leave home and I use a different hub
Post by: damon36 on June 10, 2013, 01:51:54 PM

Hi, I have finally managed to get my LS-XL to work (I think), I can see the folders through web access link although I had to disable the auto-configure firewall settings (UPnP) to make it work.

But when I go to my friends house and log onto his wireless network, I can not link on to the LS-XL. I have mapped the server but its unable to link to it.

Can anyone please help, as all the instructions dont have A FAQ for this and it seems it shoulkd be simple to setup!

model is LS-X1.OTL-EU

Firmware is 1.62

Windows XP

You need to forward the external port you are using for web access to the local IP address of the linkstation. Do this on your router.

Hi, great thank you for your reply, sorry but im a complete novice and got sold this by sales guy saying "it easy!!!"

I have a BT Router and it asks what the 'GAME OR APPLICATION' is, there are so many options? Do you know which one I should forward to the LS? Or should I forward more than 1 application?

You will need to change your router to a different one in order to manually add the port forwarding as the BT routers do not allow this funtion as it's considered by BT as a business option and not a consumer option.

he should be able to contact BT and create an user defined option. Eitherway OP, contact BT directly about this since it is their router.

Great, thank you both so much!! thought I was going crazy, but will try and contact BT.

BT do also sell other suppliers of routers, such as Buffalo AirStation 150Mbps BT ADSL Modem Router & Buffalo AirStation N-Technology HighPower Broadband ADSL2+ Router.

Any recommendations?
