Title: 4TB HDD in LinkStation Quad Pro
Post by: bruceng on June 05, 2013, 12:39:05 AM

Hi,

I'm at a decision crosspoint of purchasing a 4th HDD for the LinkStation Quad Pro, contemplating between getting a 3TB HDD or 4TB HDD.

I know the 4TB HDD is not listed official as supported in Buffalo websites, but anyone tried a 4TB HDD and can verify that it works?

I'm asking this as the 4TB HDD now seems like the optimum price based on $/mb currently.

Thanks.

Rgds, Bruce

as long as you have a recent firmware you should be fine as uboot gets updated to support 3tb+ hd's

just install the latest 1.65 firmware and you should be good to go

buffalo already do it with 4tb hd's

hmm... my firmware is at 1.63, but when i clicked on check latest firmware, it reports it is already at the latest.

Mine is the one that came without any HDDs. LS-QVL

Based on the buffalo website, the latest i can download manually is 1.64? Or am I looking at the wrong place?

Buffalo USA are slow mirroring the firmware image is all

1.64 is fine for 4tb hd's

here's the change log for 1.65

 - Fixed the bug where the USB device server didn't work with firmware version 1.64.
 - Fixed the bug where disk checks didn't complete when the LinkStation had many files with firmware version 1.62 or later.
 - Fixed the bug where the LinkStation didn't detect external USB drives larger than 2 TB.
 - Fixed the bug where file copies to shared folders might fail with the LS-WSX240L.
 - Fixed the bug where the following network media players couldn't pause when playing music:
   Pioneer N-30
   Onkyo T-4070
 - Fixed the bug where the media server and iTunes server weren't configured properly after initializing the LinkStation.
