Title: LS-WVLF17 with firmware version: 1.62 hangs but can PING
Post by: a2zllc on May 18, 2013, 08:41:34 PM

Has anyone hit this problem ?  I am using both Windows and Mac shares (Time machine is active).  After 1 or 2 weeks it stops being recognized by the Mac.  If I use the Buffalo utility to scan for the drive, it does not show up!   I have it configured for STATIC IP and can PING it with no problem.  A reboot of the NAS drive cures for another week or two.   Any hits or tips?  How can I fix this?  I am not using USB so I just turned that off...thinking maybe it will help.  I am open to suggestions.

** Updated: I just realized there is a 1.64 firmware update.  Before I put that on my running drive, do I need to backup ? And does anyone know if 1.64 fixes any hanging issues ? Would be nice to know that applying the update would help at all.  thanks!    The online web interface says "The latest firmware is already installed on your LinkStation. ***  So I guess 1.64 is not valid ?  It is a little confusing... :(

Well I will answer my own question for the firmware.  The 1.64 went on without issues.  I am crossing my fingers to see if it corrects the hang condition.  I am still interested in other comments or from Buffalo on the possibility of this fixing the hang I describe.
