Title: Latest Firmware Update Problems with my TS-XEL
Post by: Nicho on May 14, 2013, 09:21:15 AM

Hi, I logged into my NAS's web interface about an hour ago and it had a message "new firmware" so I clicked update, bit weary of the 4 diget number I had to put in before confirming the operation but I've done many firmware's before with very little issues (it better not be wiping the HDD etc.).  So the update begins and I go and do a few things fully expecting it to be done when I get back but its not, its still spinning away saying "firmware update has started...".  So I guess i'm just wondering a) how long should this take b) has it malfuctioned and if so again, how long do I wait, and what do I do, turn it off and on?  Wont that brick it?  Anyway like i said its been about an hr now since I began doing the firmware update, can I assume its failed?  What are my options? :(

Thanks.

Shouldnt take anymore than 1 hour depending on your download speeds, check with the Nas Navigator to see if the update has finished, if it has not then just download the firmware from this link and run it from your PC with your anti virus and firewall disabled.

Ok thanks for the reply.  I left it for a few days lol and I've come back and relogged back into the NAS to be met by the same message as when I left:

Please do not close or refresh this window until the firmware update is completed.

Details

Progress: Updating of the firmware has started.

Can I still continue with manual firmware update even though it says its still updating?

Also NAS is reporting:

information:
I52:An unknown error occurred.

Anybody know what this error code means?

The I52 error normally means that you are not using the latest version of Nas Navigator

Ok found out i52 means "update available" so thats one worry sorted.

I've downloaded the manual update, I ran the TSUpdate.exe but it says "No TeraStations that need updating were found"  So now i've got a NAS that says it needs an update (nas navigator), when I log in it says "update in progress please wait" and when I try to manually update, nothing needs updating!  Can I at least try turning off the NAS and back on again to regain control of the web admin interface or will I brick the thing?

Try a reset and see if that helps.

If it says "No TeraStations that need updating were found" then your anti virus and/or firewall is blocking the firmware updating.
