Hello, we are currently using a Buffalo Linkstation Pro Duo(I believe is the correct model) NAS drive to access/store files over a network. We previously had a dedicated file server, but the server is getting older(Windows Server 2003) and running low on space so we've switched to the NAS drive. We are having a HUGE problem though with accessing the NAS drive being very slow. When we click to open the Network Shared Drive, the window is very slow to loading the folders/files as we try to navigate the NAS drive. (Idk if this is an indexing issue or what but it is slow on both Windows PC's and our Mac Workstations) If anyone has an idea as to how to fix this or speed up the access/navigation of the NAS drive all helps appreciated!! Thank you!
What is the connection speed to your nas? i.e is it 100mb/s or 1gb/s
What speed do you get if you copy a file to the nas?
What speed do you get if you copy a file from the nas to your pc?
These questions will help to find out if you are running your nas at the optimal speed.
