Title: LS-WVL problems: Password won't reset, can't force firmware upgrade
Post by: chgoeditor on April 20, 2013, 06:58:47 PM

A couple years ago I'd posted this problem with my LS-WVL, which had a blue light that wouldn't stop blinking.

Today I decided to start tackling the problem again. After a series of reboots, I finally got a solid blue power light and I52 error message. Unfortunately, the NAS still says my password is incorrect. Three times now I've used the following password reset instructions and am still getting an error message

Please switch the unit to off and wait until the lights are off.

Hold the function button for 10 seconds while it is still off.

While still holding the function button after 10 seconds please flip the switch to on.

Once the function light begins to blink release the function button and press it again for one second.

Wait until the power light is solid and this will restore your unit.

This process will not delete any data and will only restore the admin password and set the IP address back to DHCP.

I've also tried to force the firmware upgrade but after I click the upgrade button I'm still being asked for my password.

Any other options that people can suggest? Unfortunately, this is my second Buffalo NAS that's failed long before it should have.

Use this file to reset the password.

Davo: Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. For the first time in 2+ years I can actually see and access the files on my NAS, and update the firmware. You are my hero!
