Post by: magpies on February 09, 2009, 05:20:22 PM

Hi First time in this fourm.

I hope you can help me out. I bought the HDS-PH320U2 for my sister's Dell Laptop that is XP Pro. As a external back-up system for her important files. When I plug it into her laptop it does not reconize it! What am I/she doing wrong?  I just finished downloading the latest Utilites. Also my computer is a Mac do I have also do something different to use it on both computers? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

1) Is the unit receiving power?

2) What Mac do you have, and what O/S?

Hi Mondongo,

Yes the unit has power.

My OS for the Mac is Tiger ver. 10.4.11

When I did the Password from the CD onto the Dell Laptop nothing happened!

You should not have to do anything to see the mini in either computer. Can you see it in the Mac? Does it show up in the Disk Utility? If so, what is the filesystem? I'm assuming it's going to be FAT32.

If you can't see it in either computer, I'd probably call tech support.:smileysad:

It shows up in the Finder on my Mac as a CD Disc image. It powers on and I can feel that the drive is running. I tried to drag & drop a folder onto the image in the Finder and nothing happens! The Mac installed the software it needed to work and still nothing! I will call Tech in the morning.

Funny thing though when I did a info check is says its a 160GB instead of the 320GB that the drive is.

Thanks for trying to help!

Interesting.

Sounds like it could be a partition table problem. Give Tech support a ring and see what they have to say about it. Post back if you can after talking to Tech Support... Sorry I could not help more.

Could be you are having issues with the data encryption, perhaps?
