Title: TS-WX4.0 Tl/R1 Ethernet Reports FullDuplex but Half on Switch
Post by: jbarbeau82 on April 10, 2013, 11:47:41 AM

I have a Terastation TS-WX4.0 Tl/R1 that reports Full Duplex functionality in the Syslog and on the display of the device, but my Dell PowerConnect 3548p is indicating that the connection is at Half Duplex.  I would ignore this but the Terastation is acting a big strange.  Quit often it seems, Windows 7 loses connection to the device, and the mappings/connections have to be re-established. (users have files open, and saving becomes a problem)

During this time period, I noticed the ping responses from Terastation are much slower.  During normal activity, <1ms and during the time where it appears that the connection is lost (or that the shares are not browsable) the device is infact slow, and the response time varies from >100MS avg to <500ms

The device typically is accessible again quite quickly, but Windows will shoot a network connection error, indicating it cannot find the share name.

  1. Is there any way to adjust the duplex to match what my Switch is indicating on the Terastation (I could not find it if there was)
  2. Has anyone had similar problems to this? I do not appear to be having network issues on this time, and the office seems to be of very low traffic.
  3. We do have firewalls; A WatchGuard installed.
