Title: Rebuild array on LS-WVL/E
Post by: szspam on April 09, 2013, 06:27:34 AM

Hi all,

I have recently setup the LS-WVL/E in RAID1 a few days ago.

Drive 1 now reports a problem. I read through the suggestions on here to 'Rebuild' the array. However when I select that option it displays the warning:

"The disk which is used for rebuilding data will be deleted. Cannot cancel this operation"

I assume that this means the 'error' disk will be wiped and used to rebuild the array, however the message is not clear. It says "...which is used for rebuilding data...". I don't want to risk it.

Will it delete my data?

Thanks in advance

No, it deletes only the problem HDD, however ensure you have a backup before starting the process.

Hi Davo,

Thank you for the prompt response. That was going to be my next question :)

I plugged in a USB HDD and formatted it. I have approximately 5 top level shared folders. I would simply like to mirror the whole NAS onto the USB HDD.
In the backup settings, I selected one of the shared folders to test, and selected the USB HDD destination.

When I run the backup, the subfolders of the shared folder are copied to the HDD but without the top level folder.
IE in the example below, the AAA, BBB, CCC folders will be copied to the root of the USB HDD.

Is this normal?

Shared folder and subfolders:

ABCD

    |-- AAA

    |-- BBB

    |-- CCC

Also, what is the "Complete Backup" tickbox for? I assumed that this would automatically select all folders and simply mirror over to destination.
I read that someone had an identical question a long time ago but it went unanswered.

Thanks so much for your help :)
