Title: cannot write to files, if read-only access for share is configured
Post by: cnigg on March 30, 2013, 08:34:35 AM

Linkstation Pro Duo LS-WV2.0TL/R1-EU

Firmware 1.62

Windows7 Home Premium German - WORKGROUP mode

I have added a new share called 'ChrisData' to NAS with read/write access and all works fine. I can access all files, read write delete, and so on.

No i have added a user 'Chris' (this is my Windows7 logon user) and SAME password as for logon in Windows 7. This user is configured for read-write access to

this resource 'ChrisData'. If i set the resource itself to 'read-only' (the user 'Chris' is logged on and should have write-access), then i cannot write or delete to NAS.

I remove 'read-only' from resource and i can write and delete ! Why the NAS don't recognize my correct user 'Chris' ???

Windows7 said that i have no write access to NAS ? What can i do ?

Wait, so your saying that if you change the permission to read only you are surprised that you cannot write to it?!

I configured ist as described in Manual ! Read only Access to resource and read-Write Access to One User. How should i configure it to Slow One User read-Write and read-only to Other Users ? If i Set Write Access to Share, than any User can Write to it ?

Ok, solved ! Best way is not to read the buggy manual ! It's described absolutelly wrong in the manual, what a buggy **bleep**.

Resource configured for read/write, and set access rights for users to read/write or read-only and it works.

Why must that be described so buggy in the manual ???
