Hi Guys,
I recently sent back a Linkstation that failed after a chkdsk and subsequent firmware problem.
Luckily the data was backed up, on external USB's.
Despite this I still want to buy another one, and I wanted to know, if (in the fuure) the enclosure failed, (within the one year warranty period) would I have to send it back to the retailer complete with the drives, or would Buffalo arrange for an exchange enclousre so I could recover the data fom the drives used?
Thanks in adavnce - Steve
As these are the USA/Canada forums, I speak for this region. You could choose the option of an Advanced RMA and swap out the drives with the replacement product (provided you have a product where the HDDs are swappable - you didn't mention the part number of the product) Most retailers don't provide warranty replacement after 30 days, Buffalotech does.
Thanks drmemory for your reply.
Just checked with Buffalo UK, enclosure and drives have to be returned to the seller, within the first year.
I did have a 4TB Linkstation Pro 0 Raid and was going to buy an 8tb and use raid 1. Best thing is to buy 2 seperate 4TB Linkstation's.
