Hi - I didn't read the manual about setting up user accounts - so I created a user with different name / password than the Windows one. This has resulted in me being unable to login to the device to view shared folders. Windows 7 asks for a user / password - but rejects what I give it (new user I created or admin)
- Linkstation Live 1tb
- firmware 1.64 (latest)
I can get onto the web interface using the admin account, but when I then look at the access restriction settings, the box for restricted access isn't even ticked - so it seems I can't remove the restriction I've created for some reason (its surely in place as I could view files before creating the access restriction, not afterwards).
so any suggestions?
- create a Windows account with the same name / password as setup on linkstation? (or is that irrelevant since Windows is giving me the chance to enter different details from within my current login?)
- delete the new user account that the restrictions are associated with? Or will that get me into deeper trouble?!
- reset the linkstation? (by restoring defaults via web interface?) - I'm rather nervous of this as I've read of these devices becoming bricks after doing this; also, does this actually reset things to do with access restrictions, particularly if they involve a user other than admin?
many thanks in advance - Geoff
