Title: LS-WVL/E + 2TB WD Red drives & Raid1
Post by: Eamon on February 22, 2013, 12:00:32 PM

Hi guys first post so here goes, just got my LinkStation™ Pro Duo LS-WVL/E yesterday & I installed 2 2TB WD Red drives.

Went thru the startup procedure fine & I installed the NAS System software & logged in fine.

Drives show up as Array1 on Raid 0 & 4tb of space, I would like to switch to Raid 1 so I followed the instructions in the online manual but the screens in the manual don't match my LS, the manual says to select Array 1 & the 2 discs that it is made up of then to select Raid 1 from the drop down? The only selection I have in the drop down is Delete this Array?

Do I have to delete Array 1 ? Then create a new Array1 that is Raid 1?

Just wanted to check before I confirm the delete (as it is working fine now, just not the Raid 1 I want)

Any ideas?

Thanks

Eamon

I am not sure how related this is for you?

Just bought the LS-WVL/E and to my surprise WD Red is not on the list of Supported Hard Drive List for LS-WVL.

I am looking for an answer about installing WD Red 2TB which is NOT on the list of supported drives, how strict is the list and what will happen if I insert say WD20EFRX (2TB WD Red)?

My question to support remain unanswered.

Yes, to change the RAID, you have to delete it first, then rebuild as a different RAID.  To the other poster - we can't test every HDD that comes out, and give an example list. Your HDDs will probably work - we just haven't tested them.
