Title: Upgrading my 2TB Linkstatin to 4TB, help to set up
Post by: ksp on February 10, 2013, 04:41:31 PM

Just got a LS-Wx2.0TL/R1 that came with 2 1TB drives but I need to upgrade to 2 $ TB drives. I bought some Seagate Barracuda drives and they are not listed on the "approved" Buffalo list but the model number is very close.

When I slip the drives in the unit will flash red 6 times and just keep doing that. What is that telling me?

I have tried to access with Navigator but it won't see it and if I try the LSUpdater program it will tell me that it can't find a LS thats needs ypgrading.

Please help and point me in the right direction to get this thing upgraded.

feels like is similar with my issue

The os were install into the stock hdd, when you plug in a new hdd, there was no system can boot .  Therefore, you need to create a usb recovery in the maintainance mode.

You can find it within  the webgui .

If you are getting E06 (6 flashing red LEDs) then you need to follow FAQ 3 of 5 in the storage section to TFTP the unit and then reflash the firmware.

Adding some more info.

I downloaded LS-WXL 1.33 and tried that on my LS-WX2.0TL/R1. After some time I got it to download the blocks ok and then the blue light is now on steady.

After waiting a bit I tried the NASnavi program but it won't find the LS.

I have tried with my PC NIC set to 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.11.1,,,,either way does not find the LS. What can I do at this point?

Ok, so I finally got the thing to start the firmware updating process. I instructed it to delete partitions and format the disks. After that it says "Linstation booting" for a long time and then it says not responding after 1200 seconds and then I tell it to try again. Question is since I told it to format drives did it take everything off and then I have TFTP again and basically start over or shoiuld it continue on with the firmware update? The instructions in the FAQ are not clear to me as to what to do next.
