Title: How do you BitTorrent with Linkstation Live LS-CHL?
Post by: beasho on February 06, 2009, 11:28:13 PM

I have recently purchased the Linkstation Live  (LS-CHL F/W 1.06) and have had NO luck with Bittorrent.  I have enabled the BitTorrent Function.  Set the Target Folder and then Opened the Download manager.  I have attempted to "Add Torrent from URL" to the Torrent Downloads and then click ADD but nothing ever happens.  Some times it informs me that the Torrent is invalid other times it responds with Okay, but I never get anything in the Start, Stop, Remove applet.  It just appears to fall flat and inform me "There are currently no Torrents.  Add a torrent above."  Please help.

PS - I also have no idea how to "Add Torrent from File" since it appears to be asking me for a local file on my computer.

   You can download the torrent file on your local disk,  then use "add torrent from file", open it firstly, then click add to add it to bittorrent client.  It will work.

Maybe I am being obtuse but if the "File" were local then why would I need bitTorrent?

I thought that the NAS had its own client so that I could download Torrents without my PC?

Typically I go to a website like MiniNova, identify the Torrent and then use a locally run application (on my PC) to download the file.  I can identify the torrent but have no idea how to get Buffalo's BitTorrent download manager to even initiate the download?

I use the torrent download with pc off

BUT i have to download and save the torrent from mininova to somewhere on pc

Then 'add torrent from file' and browse to the folder you have saved the mininova torrent file to and 'Add'

It should then start downloading and you can turn the pc off if you want - make sure you have set up the port settings to allow the download

   I am still having no luck downloading BitTorrent to my Linkstation.  None of the recommendations above appear to work.  The BitTorrent interface just acts like it is dead and will not allow me to enter a URL (Keeps informing me that the URL is invalid) nor can I add a file as suggested.  Any further advice?

Here's a specific example to try.  You'll be able to confirm whether or not the BitTorrent function works for you.  You can either paste this link into the interface or download the torrent file locally and then do the browse>upload to get it started.

http://borft.student.utwente.nl/~adrian/torrentphp/torrent.php/OOo_3.1.0_Win32Intel_install_en-US.exe.torrent

That torrent very well seeded, so if BitTorrent works on your linkstation, then this should download pretty quickly.

Hi all first post here. Just found this thread via google. I too am having similar problems to the op. The torrent downloader works fine when I add a torrent from my computer but when I add one from URL nothing happens. It says the file has been added ok but nothing appears. It would be really handy if I can get this feature to work because I get set torrents to download from my iPhone while I'm away. I have tried a number of different torrents from different sites but none of them appear in the download window. Please help!;
