I have a couple of questions re: replication & backup:
1) Is it necessary to connect the Terastations performing replication via their 2nd LAN ports, or can they replicate over the network?
2) If I connect both LAN ports of a Terastation to the network, will it load-balance between them (in essence giving me a 2 gbps pipe)?
3) Can you perform replication from one source TeraStation and backup from another source Terastation to different shares on the same destination Terastation?
4) If #3 is not possible, can you convert a replication relationship into a backup relationship without deleting the destination files (the file structures appear to be different, so I'm guessing the answer is "no").
4) Where do details of replication & backup errors get logged? The syslog is rather terse in it's explanation of the problem.
I ask because I had replication going between two Terastations and needed to backup a third, so I added a new backup share on the second Terastation and setup a backup relationship on the third device, (so in essence, device #1 is replicating to device #2, and device #3 is backing up to device #2), and I've been getting both replication and backup errors since (though I had a replication error prior to settig up the backup relationship.) All three devices are Terastation Pro Quads.
TIA,

An update and another issue:
I could not get these devices replicating reliably, so I removed the replication relationship, deleted the destination files and set up a backup instead. The backups seem to be working fine, but I keep getting replication error notifications, and I can't figure out how to acknowledge them or turn them off (even though there are no more replications defined). Anybody have any ideas?
TIA.
