Title: Ministation is not accessible anymore but still running
Post by: ice2strike on February 01, 2013, 11:46:21 AM

Hi everyone,

I really hope someone can help me. I have a Ministation 1TB external harddrive black color. I have formatted it to a Fat so i can use it on windows and MAC.

After 1 year now and 948 GB of used space i gave it to a friend for 2 days who had a windows. When i had the drive back i experience the following:

1. i can´t copy anything unto the drive anymore. Copy process starts but always stucks at 8MB or 63.7 MB

2. I tried Repair Disk with Disk Utility from Mac, it showed Disk fixed

3. still no luck with copy stuff on to the drive

When i connected the drive the next day it did not show up anymore (drive still running, constant noise and green light). I tried accessing it with Disk Utility, where it was still showing the drive, but it couldnt see how much space was used or not.

So what might have happened?

Reformat it via disk utility.

will the data still be there or lost with Reformat? I would highly appreciate a solution with keeping the data, if not possibly, ok. It shows that the disk is not mounted anymore.
